FADA Reports Best‐Ever April Auto Retail: 26.1 Lakh Units, Bharat‐Led Growth

05th May’26, Mumbai, BHARAT: The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) today released Vehicle Retail Data for April'26. April’26 Auto Retail Reflecting on April 2026 Auto Retail performance, FADA Vice President Mr. Sai Giridhar said, The Indian auto retail industry has opened FY 2026-27 on an exceptionally strong note, retailing 26,11,317 units in April'26 — a 12.94% YoY expansion that delivers the highest-ever April in our records. With Two-Wheelers at +13.01%, Three-Wheelers at +7.19%, Passenger Vehicles at +12.21%, Commercial Vehicles at +15.02%, Tractors at +23.22%, and Construction Equipment at -2.25%, five of the six vehicle categories — along with the total industry — registered all-time April records . Two-Wheeler Performance 19,16,258 units (+13.01% YoY). Urban +14.07% YoY, Rural +12.30% YoY. EV share 7.76%. Commercial Vehicle Performance 99,339 units (+15.02% YoY). Rural +20.25% YoY vs Urban +10.22% YoY. MCV +27.07%. Passenger Vehicle Performance 4,07,355 units (+12.21% YoY). Rural +20.40% YoY vs Urban +7.11% YoY. CNG share 22.62%, EV share 5.77%. Inventory 28–30 days. Near-Term Outlook (May’26) 55.60% dealers expect growth 35.38% anticipate flat performance 9.03% foresee decline Drivers: marriage season, Akshaya Tritiya, new FY schemes, CV replacement demand. Watch-outs: IMD heatwave, West Asia fuel-price uncertainty, supply constraints. Sentiment: Cautiously Optimistic.
